George Orwell (25 June 1903 – 21 January 1950) "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."
I honestly don’t know how much longer I can take living in this country. The rules, the regulations, the cameras, the police, the wars, the forms, the spying, What the hell happened? I didn’t just happen over night, but it seems like I woke up to a nightmare.
Just a little less than three years ago, I left Thailand looking forward to the safety of the United States. Now, I want to go back to Thailand for the Freedom that no longer is here. I used to hate the arrogance of the Thai police. Now I’d rather deal with them than the police here. I’ve heard horror stories of corrupt police in Mexico, but never had problems with them. But here, I’ve seen such blatant disregard for the law by police in this country that I’ve lost all respect for them. They’re nothing more than bullies hiding behind uniforms and badges.
If Mexico were not so close to the US, I’d move there, not that it’s in great shape. The War on Drugs is destroying that country too. Canadians tell me to come up there. Aside from the fact that it’s too damned cold with no palm trees and sand, they’re not far from a police state either. They’re so busy watching us self destruct they haven’t noticed the creeping tyranny there. Australia isn’t much better, with their attempt at Internet censorship. I would be open to New Zealand, but worry that they are following the other English speaking countries. The United Kingdom, of course, is even worse than the United States.
I’ve heard good things about Chile. Costa Rica seems to have a growing libertarian movement. Europe? I love Europe, really Spain. I only know Spain, but I don’t have much faith . . . I have NO faith in the EU. That’s a nightmare too.
There is no perfect country. I’m going to have to follow the PT route, and put up the six PT flags for my citizenship, residency, playground, banking, business, and Internet business. That basically means finding different places for each different need and keeping Big Brother off my back.
I’m happy and inspired by the growing Liberty movement, but is it growing fast enough? How fast is the police state going to be dismantled? The fact is, it’s going to get worse before it gets better. How bad is it going to get?

Harry Browne (1933 – March 1, 2006) "The important thing is to concentrate upon what you can do - by yourself, upon your own initiative."
Harry Browne in his book, How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World writes about the failure of politics and the difference between taking direct action and indirect action. In other words, take charge of your own life and don’t wait for others to change to make your life better.
I know that many people will say that that’s the cowards way out. That may be true, but I see no reason to wait on idiots to wake up to the tyranny. Freedom and liberty are obviously morally superior, but there are too many who love the State, love its power, love its “care.” There is no reasoning with them. They are slaves; they love their servitude. Why should I sacrifice myself, my freedom, my happiness for fools? I would not force freedom on them, though they would force slavery on me.
They see no problem in cameras on every street corner and bus. They see no problem in filling out reams of papers of personal information. They see no problem in paying taxes. They see no problem in using the State to force others to do their will. The slaves, the overseers, and the owners all think alike. Even if the slaves want to leave their bondage, they looks forward to the day of casting their masters in chains. Too few think of other possibilities, other ideas, other realities. Too few think of freedom and liberty.
My chosen path is not for most. They have family, businesses, and friends to keep them tied down. They must find other ways to live freely. I must, however, be able to travel freely to see my family and friends. An American passport is now a liability. American citizenship is now a burden.
I’m happy to lend my support to the Hawaiian sovereignty movement, Texas Independence, nullification, the Free State Project, tax protests, Tea Parties, libertarian candidates, etcetera, but I’m not waiting on their success to live freely.
In the coming months I will be making plans to get out, I hope before it’s not too late.
