“A patronizing disposition always has its meaner side” ~George Eliot
I’m still on vacation. At home I don’t watch TV. I just rent DVDs. It saves on cable bills and time. So my source for news is the dreaded internet our Lecturer-in-Chief warns us about.
It might be untrue he says.
Really? So when he said he doesn’t know how to use all those technological gadgets, he was telling the truth? Mr. “I can’t live without my Blackberry.”
When he said his administration was going to be transparent, he was telling the truth?
When he said he would bring back the troops, he was telling the truth?
I could go on, but you get the picture.
For those of you who don’t get the picture, and there are still some of you out there,

he’s a liar, not a liar like Bill Clinton, who believed his lies when he told them, and not like Algore, who lies even when he doesn’t need to, or even when no one in their right mind would believe him, inventor of the internet, inspiration to Love Story, and climatechangemonger who only warns the world out love for us and our money. No, our New Great Leader is more like Bush in that he seems to be a normal liar. He knows he’s lying. It’s to his benefit. There’s a rhyme and reason to it. He just sounds more credible and intelligent than Bush, but he’s still a liar.
He tells us to trust the government and not get bogged down with information from the Internet. It might not correspond with the revealed wisdom from Washington. Like all liars, he’s offended that he’s not believed. He’s shocked that someone might bring up an unfortunate bit of information he finds inconvenient. So, the Great Leader, the Great Lecturer, tells us what to think, what to read, what to listen to and what to watch.
Now that I’ve been watching the news, I’ve noticed that he’s always on! I used to read about him and some other idiot power grab he was making, but I didn’t have to listen to him. I just read about him. I also read that he was an inspiring speaker. . .
Am I on the same planet as these people?
Inspiring? I’ve been a teacher and recently a student again. I know the difference between a lecture and a speech. He lectures. Not only does he lecture, he talks down to us. He drones on and on. Can’t you imagine going to his night classes? Each week you’d move further and further to the back, until you’re in the last row, playing games on your computer or drifting to sleep. Every once in a while you’d hear him state something obvious and say to yourself, “what an ass.”
Has anyone heard from his students on what a great professor he was? How much they learned from him?
Now, in his new role, his lectures are not even presentations where we might learn something. No, he’s moved up to being an administrator. You know the old saying about those who can, do, and those who can’t, teach. Well, those who can’t teach, become administrators.
Worse yet, he’s now the principal who’s called an assembly to lecture the student body over some infraction of school rules. In his world, some students committed some prank, and he will not tolerate any more nonsense. He’s so important telling us what to do and how to do it. He loves ordering us around. Like most teachers, counselors, social workers, principals, and the truly evil vice-principals, he gives advice, never once realizing or caring that we don’t want it!
How do we deal with this idiot, this pompous, full of himself, Lecturer-in-Chief?
Learn from teenagers and young adults. Teenagers especially are the preeminent bullshit detecters. Learn to detect his bullshit. Laugh at him behind his back, snicker in front of him. Go to sleep when he talks, play games, ignore him, don’t take him seriously. Remember your youth! Remember your least favorite teachers and principals. What did you do to make life miserable for them? What would you have like to have done to them?
Begin with that.
Remember he’s an ass, treat him as such.

I hate to watch him too. I turn the tv off.
